Guerilla Art

For this blog post, it took me awhile to think of what I wanted to leave behind for people to see.  Then it came to me! I was going to leave something that would make more people SMILE in the world!!! So that is what I did.  I went for a walk outside along a path near my house, got some flowers, and put them in a vase that I then wrote inspirational quotes along the sides of it.  Then on the front of the vase there is a note that says, open me and smile!

It was interesting to see the reaction of the person who stopped along the path way, they really did stop to smell the roses and read the quotes that are along the sides of the vase.  They also SMILED! It was awesome to see it because I truly feel that a smile is the best thing a person can do!

Art Word of the Week: Space

Space is determined by the size of the canvas.  Within the overall space, the artist must deal with the problem of arranging elements.  When it comes to Guerilla Art, the more space you have, you are able to leave behind something HUGE. Or even with a small space you can leave behind something little that could brighten peoples day! Guerilla Art allows you to be creative with the space you have around you.

For Educators:

Guerilla Art can be an exercise where you allow the children to think of something small that they could put around the school, and then during the day you could allow them to go and see if they can catch anyone looking at the art.  It can also be a great way for the children to bring life into the school by creating things that could brighten up the halls or even the restrooms.  Guerilla Art can be fun for ALL ages!
